The Navarro County Farmers Market is open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 7 am to noon at 405 E. Collin St., next to the Corsicana Daily Sun office. You can purchase all sorts of items like plants, flowers, baked goods, green onions, new potatoes, carrots in yellow, purple & orange, local processed meat, farm eggs, squash, English peas, lettuce, spinach, turnip greens, collard greens, mustard, turnips, purple pac choi, spices, chili mixes, pepper vinegars, bread, scones, and more! Please support our local farmers.
City of Corsicana Park Pools are open for the season.
Jester Park Pool: all entries $3. Open Wednesday through Saturday 1 to 6 pm, Sunday 1 to 5 pm.
Bunert Park Pool: all entries $2. Open Wednesday through Saturday 1 to 6 pm, closed on Sundays.
Both pools will close on Saturday, July 29.
Pooch Paddle on Sunday, July 30, from 2 to 5 pm.

Friday, June 2 - Fundraising Luncheon for Mary Peterson Childcare Center starting at 11 am at the MLK Center, 1114 East 6th Avenue. Main course: brisket or baked chicken. Sides: dressing, cabbage, green beans or pinto beans, potato salad, and dessert. One-meat plate $10, two-meat plate $14. Bake Sale items available: cakes, pies, and tea cakes. Dine in or take out. Live music, games, and of course, food trucks will be in the city parking lot behind Brick Streets Brewery, 224 E. 5th Ave., from 6-9 pm. This fun, family event is sponsored by Corsicana Main Street.
Sunday, June 11 - Lane Brown Car and Bike Show at the I.O.O.F. Center, 601 N 45th St, Corsicana, from 11 am to 3 pm. Sign-ups begin at 10 am. Car Show from 11 am to 2 pm, awards presented at 2 pm. Tuesday, June 13 - The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), Chapter 1191, will hold its monthly meeting at Bubba's BBQ in Ennis on from 11 am until 1 pm. Bubba's BBQ is located at 201 S. I-45 in Ennis, next door to Tractor Supply. The guest speaker will be Ms Jessica Diaz, Director of the Ennis Public Library. Saturday, June 24 - R. Lowell Thompson Memorial Disc Golf Tournament at Fullerton-Garrity Park, 3201 McKnight Lane, Corsicana. Registration at 7:45, start of play at 9 am. Two person team (scramble). Saturday, July 22 - Benefit RC is proud to announce the 8th Annual Fuel The Firefighters Benefit and Poker Run from 9 am to 4 pm at the Harbor Restaurant, 10000 TX-294 Spur, Corsicana, TX 75109. Help the five Richland Chambers community Volunteer Fire Departments raise money. There will be BBQ sandwiches, live music by The Fog, a silent auction, and a live auction with a professional auctioneer. Admission is $25 per person. Monday, October 23 - Corsicana Solar Eclipse Kickoff from 7 to 9 pm. Join Fred Espenak, a retired NASA astrophysicist from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, as he takes the stage to talk about the Total Solar Eclipse. Also known as "Mr. Eclipse", he worked with infrared spectrometers to probe the atmospheres of the planets and is known for his work predicting and observing solar eclipses. Please place a frozen bottle of water in your mailbox for your mail delivery person on hot days. Those little white trucks they drive have no air conditioning and get very hot. Please help keep them hydrated!
Volunteer Fire Departments are always in need of bottled water. Please donate some if you can. Also, if you have a refrigerator you don't need, please consider donating it to your local Volunteer Fire Department. They can use it!
Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals to our senior neighbors, stop and enjoy a short friendly visit, and observe to ensure the senior is doing well. Most routes take less than an hour. You choose how often you volunteer: once a week, a month, or just on occasion. You'll need your own transportation, a valid drivers license, car insurance, a working mobile phone, and pass a background check. HOPE TO GO FOOD PANTRY, a partner agency of the North Texas Food Bank, is now in operation. Navarro County residents may receive free food in emergency situations without qualifying based on income. The office is open from 9 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Thursday at Mildred Baptist Church at 5502 S. Hwy 287, directly across from the Mildred schools. The Northside Baptist Church Care Center, 2900 N. Beaton, invites those who are hungry and in need of assistance to come by for help. They are open Monday and Wednesday 9-3 and Friday 9-12.
Compassion Corsicana is located at 517 N Commerce Street, across from Salvation Army. They offer nutritious food to residents who meet the income requirements. They partner with the North Texas Food Bank and several local stores and community members to provide nutritious food for those in need. Residents may visit the pantry once per month for groceries, and weekly for produce. All you need is an ID or bill showing you live in Navarro Co. They are open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm (closed from 12 to 1 pm), and on Tuesdays from 1 to 4 pm. For more information, call (903) 874-4971.

If you have an unserviceable US, state, M.I.A., or military flag, bring it to the American Legion, 632 N. Beaton St. If the post is closed, you can place the flag in a plastic bag and hang it on the front door. After 2 pm daily, bring it inside. If you can not afford a new US flag, the American Legion will replace your unserviceable US flag with a new US Flag. Honor Flight DFW is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that is committed to flying veterans, at no cost to the veteran, round trip to Washington, DC with a one night stay, to see the WW II Memorial and other monuments in the Washington area. They will fly any veteran of a War era since WW II, but priority is for WW II and terminally ill veterans. They have a "guardian" assigned to each veteran to assist him or her during the trip and a volunteer medical staff for each flight. Honor Flight DFW pays for the cost for the veteran and all others pay their own expenses. For more information about this organization and flight schedules, visit www.honorflightdfw.org. This is one way for us to honor our veterans while we still have them around.

Grandparents Raising Grandkids Support Group will meet at FBC Eureka at 8718 S Hwy 287 Eureka Tx the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The purpose of this group is to provide support, and encouragement, as well as offer helpful and informative information with occasional speakers coming in. Have an old cell phone or phones cluttering up their home? The Angels of Corsicana Troop Support has the answer. Just bring those old phones by their office on Bus. 45 across from the old hat factory any morning from 9-11 M-F or drop them off at Corley Funeral Home. The phones will be bundled and forwarded them to a company that refurbishes them and sends then to the troops to use.
